Thugs of Hindostan Official Trailer

This is the stuff that film lore is made of. Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together for the first time. It is surprising how this did not happen sooner. Thugs of Hindostan official trailer was just released and it is clearly a mega film for everyone associated with it.

There is plenty of spent moolah on display and Amitabh looks stunning. How long have we come from his Toofan (1989) and Ajooba (1991) days?  The trailer also reveals a chunk of the story and my guess is that the so-called suspense is going to lie in whether Firangi (Aamir Khan) double-crosses Azaad (Amitabh Bachchan). In spite of the cast, the trailer did not fill me with hope or excitement. I had mixed feelings. That is partly because the CGI just does not look good enough and the scenes with ships blowing up just don't look convincing.

The other deterrent to my confidence is the pedigree of the director, Vijay Krishna Acharya. He has moved from Directing Sonpari on TV to try his hands at films like Tashan and Dhoom 3. I am sure YRF still persisting with him would largely be due to the box-office success of Dhoom 3. He has also written Thugs of Hindostan, much like he wrote the Dhoom trilogy and Tashan. Again, not inspiring confidence.

I would be very happy to be proved wrong but I don't see this being a huge success. It may still do a 100 crores but it will not deliver what we have come to expect from Aamir Khan films like Dangal, 3 Idiots and Ghajini. Even Aamir is allowed to be tied down by the law of averages sometime.
