Jurassic World Rebirth tries to do something interesting with the franchise and gets about halfway there.
Scarlett Johansson leads a cast that is game throughout. The film shifts away from the theme park setting and reaches back toward the survival thriller roots of the original Jurassic Park. When it leans into that, it works — the dinosaur encounters in the first act build genuine tension and are well-staged. But the screenplay has issues in the second half. Character decisions fall apart under scrutiny and the emotional family storyline does not land with the weight it clearly wants to.
Fans of the franchise will find it worth watching. Better than Fallen Kingdom, not as good as the original. A reasonable watch.
