Manmarziyaan Movie Review

Manmarziyaan Abhishek Bachchan Tapsee Pannu

Manmarziyaan continues Anurag Kashyap's 2.0 journey into mainstream Hindi cinema. Though he had a forgettable start to it with Bombay Velvet, I remained optimistic. To be fair, Bombay Velvet was still very much in Kashyap's domain. There was a retro setting, underworld and struggle for power. Those are all the things, Kashyap excels in. When he was not able to deliver a good film with that setting, many would have doubted Kashyap's multi-dimensional ability. However, this time he is experimenting with a completely new genre and seems in a good enough form to prove his point. ...  More

DuckTales Season 1 Review

DuckTales

Back in 1990, there was no cable TV and hence no Cartoon Network. I did not have the luxury of 24-hours of Centurions or Swat Kats. All I had was Sunday. It was the day, more like the hour of cartoons on Doordarshan and like all other kids, I waited for it through the week. This was 1 hour of pure adventure. Death-defying, high-octane, action of Ducktales and Talespin. I loved watching it and would not miss it for anything. As Cartoon Network started, the sunset on Ducktales and Talespin. ...  More

Lost In Space Season 1 Review

Lost in space Will Robinson and Robot

There is nothing scarier than being stranded in space and Gravity taught us that all too well. But, being up there among the stars is also fascinating. This great combination of fear and fascination has been explored by countless TV shows and films, none more iconic than Star Trek. I started watching it as a little kid because my dad was a huge fan. Since then, I have been hooked to shows and films that explore life up there, light years away, finding new worlds. Lost in Space is one such show that tells the story of a group of people who have been selected to set up a human colony on a star system called Alpha Centauri. It is a remake of 1965 series of the same name which itself was inspired by an 1812 book named The Swiss Family Robinson. ...  More

Yeh Meri Family Season 1 Review

yeh meri family TVF mona singh

This new show from TVF is a slice-of-life show and a brilliant one at that. Yeh Meri Family is centered around Harshu and his world. Harshu is like any other 12 years old. He wants to have fun in his holidays, read comics, get up late and not have a bath every day. The big differentiator for the show is it is set in the 90s. Due to this, the show brings forth some amazing moments filled with nostalgia. I could describe the show by saying this is creator Sameer Saxena’s love letter to the 90s, but I won’t. ...  More

Luke Cage Season 2 Review

luke cage 2

2018 seems to be the year of great sophomore seasons. After Goliath, and 13 Reasons Why, comes season 2 of Luke Cage, and lands a massive punch. The season is set-up rather awkwardly because even though there is a recap, it is for season 1. However, those who have followed Marvel shows on Netflix would know that Defenders came after Luke Cage season 1. The storyline in Defenders did cause changes in Luke’s universe, unfortunately, there is no recap of what happened in Defenders. Hence, people who have not seen the show may be surprised to see Misty Knight, missing one of her arms. To know the entire backstory, you will have to watch Defenders and also Iron Fist…actually don’t torture yourself…just watch Defenders.  ...  More
