Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry. Stellar cast, fabulously written crime thriller. Crime 101 is the kind of heist film you sit down for and genuinely do not want to get up from.
Hemsworth plays Mike, a robber who intercepts jewellery shipments with precision. What makes his performance work is not the action sequences. It is the body language. He plays a man who knows exactly what he is doing but is quietly afraid of where it leads, someone who does not want anyone getting hurt. All of that comes through in the way he carries himself. Really beautifully done.
Halle Berry at 59 looks absolutely stunning and she plays the part completely. Confident insurance agent, top of her game. The moments where that composure cracks after certain incidents, those scenes are handled beautifully. And Mark Ruffalo is just golden here. He is completely in his zone in this kind of complex thriller space. If you have seen his recent TV work, you will know exactly what to expect, and you will love him here just as much.
