Dil Bechara – A Biased Movie Review

dil-bechara

Dil Bechara is the last time we see Sushant Singh Rajput on screen. But like so many other things 2020 has taken away from us, being able to see Sushant on the big screen in his last film is also one of them. Hence, there is absolutely no way Dil Bechara can be reviewed in an unbiased manner. And I don't want to try and fool myself thinking that it is possible. The only way forward is to embrace it, and so, this is a completely biased review of Dil Bechara.  ...  More

Sacred Games Trailer

Sacred-Games-600x333

Since the time Netflix announced Sacred Games, there has been a lot of anticipation around it. After all, it stars Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddique, and Radhika Apte. Add to that, the director duo, Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. Anticipating and excitement are automatic with such names behind the project.

“Never before have we seen mainstream actors leaving the big screen for a streaming service. Saif and Nawaz have stepped up and this could well be a game changer for the entire Industry.”

This is not ‘just another show’ from Netflix. There is a lot riding on this apart from money. Netflix did not go the Amazon route and launch the service with a big Indian show like Inside Edge. Thank god for that. Even though the cast of the show was decent, it just was not up to the standards. From production to acting to storyline, it was all very premature. However, with Sacred Games, Netflix may have just waited the right amount of time and based this series on a plethora of data they would have mined from India.

Netflix has started on the right note. The trailer looks stunning with some great production value and intensity of the premise comes through. Let’s hope it delivers and opens the floodgates for many more shows. That may just be the turnaround Indian Television needs.

Still 5 months is a really long time and enough is enough. So here I am putting down my thoughts on my ‘Best Films of the Year 2013’. ...  More
